I went to Cotsco yesterday and I haven’t been in awhile but there it was – a few Christmas items. Just a little. Some ribbons and a frosty tree decoration and a Disney village figurine of snow and all. Just a little. It’s not even Labor day but according to Cotsco, we need a little Christmas.
My mother’s favorite movie was Aunt Mame. I found her a book of it for one Christmas. She didn’t like the movie musical much, I think it flopped, but I love the song “We need a little Christmas” It works perfectly. They have bad news so Aunt Mame suggests they start decorating early (after Thanksgiving back then whereas now, according to stores, July is fine).
I love that idea. When things are down, we just need a little Christmas. Or Hanukkah. Or Kwanzaa. All of it! Joy, lights, that’s what we need. And it looks like Cotsco agrees with me.
