I was listening to a podcast. Okay, I’ve been listening to any podcast about cohousing and soon will write more of my review of those. But the latest one was saying how great it is to learn new skills from your neighbors.
I thought that too. I even have a blog post about that, I think, from when it happened after I just moved in. Looking back, it wasn’t that exciting. I learned to knit but only did that twice. Covid did dampen the clubs meeting schedule. I also finally learned to grill when a neighbor was kind enough to show me his tricks to starting fire on his grill. But, that was it. One day. A few endorphins and over.
In the town, they had a choir. That sounded like a fun club to join. Which brings up another issue, cohousing is sold as fulfilling your whole life. It doesn’t and it shouldn’t. It is best to have some balance and join clubs and organizations outside of the neighborhood. I know my neighbors wished some other neighbors would get out more and not become so narrowly focused on just the coho.
