I was looking through my google files and saw one labeled “Beach Problems”. That must be wrong. Is it an oxymoron? How can there be problems at the beach?
But like this blog, I like to know the good and bad of everything. So I did find a beach problem yesterday. Sand. I don’t mind it everywhere but others do. What I don’t like is how quiet it is. I walked onto the beach and the storm clouds were swarming so I walked home before a thunderstorm. But I had dropped my goggles. I didn’t hear them fall because it was so quiet on the sand. Later I went back and they were nowhere. I took the same path. Nada. Well, I did find them years ago at a pool so now it’s someone else’s turn to enjoy the sunglass cool goggles.
Last summer I noticed that the sand is so hot in the middle of the day that it’ll burn your skin off. For real. Even above the foot, over your sandals. I think I only experienced it once and that was enough. Then my son and I had to take a break, put down a towel, cool off, then run a few more feet and repeat the process. At least I had a chance to look behind me to see if we had dropped anything besides burned off flesh.
So, I must remember. Always look back. Did you leave something? I have heard it said that if you leave something behind, it means you’ll be back. That’s true. I’ll always return to the beach.
